Hi friends, happy Tuesday! I hope you’re having an amazing start to your week. Today’s post will be dedicated to a fun meme here in the blogworld, Top Ten Tuesday! Every week there is a new, exciting topic to create a bookish list for ranging anywhere from genres to characters, to quotes and more! It is hosted by the lovely That Artsy Reader Girl so be sure to check out her site for more information.
The topic for this Tuesday is a cover freebie! I thought it would be fun to have a bit of a battle between different covers of the same book and give my opinion on which I like the most. Let’s get started!
1. Bloodleaf by Crystal Smith
I can’t help but GUSH over that new cover (right)! The drawing is absolutely stunning and makes me want to pick it up immediately.
2. Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I’m sorry but neither of these deserve to win. The left is so lack-luster and the right looks like a harp/guitar build gone wrong… JLA deserves better.
3. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
Oh man this one is tricky. The left covers are so iconic because they are the OGs! They are what drew me to the series and are tied to some of my best memories. However, the new paperback editions are absolutely breathtaking! The vibrant colors and beautiful illustrations make me want to take pictures of them for days. I have to give this one a tie!
4. Seafire by Natalie C. Parker
Okay I might get some hate for this but I strongly prefer the original. Don’t get me wrong the newer cover has action and not a bad visual of a girl on the cover, but it’s just not as striking to me as the left.
5. Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl
This one is a no brainer for me. The original is so refreshing and something I have never seen before. I also think that its intriguing concept goes along perfectly with the themes in the story.
6. Genuine by E. Lockhart
To be honest, this is another tie for me. I think the original is so unique, it immediately draws in interest. The new cover is so mysterious and, at the same time, beautiful. I can’t decide the winner because they both absolutely win!
7. The Nowhere Girls by Amy Reed
Oh gosh, both of these are gorgeous in my opinion! They both set two very different vibes for the impression of this book and I’m not mad about either of them. I would gladly display both editions on my shelves!
8. Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson
I really really love the original cover (I am a sucker for denim and enamel pins) but can we just talk about how stunning the new one is as well! It kinda looked a bit cheesy to me at first but the colors are so vibrant and the fact that there is a plus-size woman of color on it makes it all the better! A++ in my book.
9. Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins
It wasn’t until recently that I realized Prince Charming is the new and (what I think) improved version of Royals. Not only is the cover absolutely darling but the new title fits the overall theme so much better! Definitely a win for me π
10. American Panda by Gloria Chao
Though the original is what initially drew me to the book, I can’t help but fall in love with the new cover even more than I did the previous time. The colors! The books! The exposed brick! It’s everything and more.
What do you guys think of my decisions? Which would you agree/disagree on? What are some of your favorite/least favorite book makeovers of all time?
Until next time, happy reading! β‘
I have a completely different cover for The Nowhere Girls, mine is the UK cover and I definitely prefer the US one you have here.

I agree with you on ALL of these! Especially Seafire, I LOVED the original covers but then they changed them and now nothing matches. π¦
Here’s my Top Ten Tuesday!
Happy Reading! π

Oh no! I hate when they switch covers in the middle of publishing a series. It’s so annoying π¦ Thanks for your comment, I love your blog β€

The CINDER one is so funny for me. It absolutely fits the book so well, but it also kept me from reading CINDER for a long time because it made the book look too sci-fi for me. When I read it, I LOVED it and wished I had read it sooner. Isn’t funny how different covers make us think and feel different things?
Happy TTT!

I love cover battles! I usually prefer covers without people on them. The people on the covers donβt always match up with the characters in my mind.

I totally understand that! people on covers are always hit or miss for sure.
