Books I Hope to Read Before the New Year: Winter Edition ❄️

We are a little more than halfway through December which means that 2022 is right around the corner (exciting yet extremely terrifying stuff!). This means that I only have about two more weeks to get as much reading done before the New Year, and with the help of the holidays, I am definitely craving some wintry-themed books!

In today’s post I will be sharing the few books that I am hoping to pick up before the end of December that all remind me of that feeling of cozying up by the fire on a chilly day with some hot cocoa. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get to them all due to holiday plans, but I will definitely try to knock out half of them!

With that said, here’s the TBR! 🎄🎁❄️

The Modern-Day Christmas Song Book Tag 🎄

Hi friends, I hope you all are having a restful Saturday! Today I have plans to go do some Christmas cookie decorating at my Grandmother’s house, so the festive vibe are definitely in the air this morning. 😊

Yesterday, I found a lovely bookish holiday tag created by Elli @ AceReader called the Modern-Day Christmas Song Book Tag. I don’t know about you guys, but one of my favorite things about this time of the year is… well the music! Old and new I’m obsessed with it all. 💖

The questions were a lot of fun to answer so let’s get right into it! 🎄🎁❄️

Top 5 Tuesday: Books with Plants on the Cover 🍃📖👒

Happy Tuesday friends! This weekend has been extremely hectic as I moved into a new apartment and started my final semester of college. Not going to lie, I am very overwhelmed, but also excited about what the future holds. It’s also been nice to have my own space again that I can really call mine. 😊

Today’s post is a fun one, because I’m participating in a new blog meme for the first time! Top Five Tuesday was created by Shanah at Bionic Book Worm, and is now being hosted by Meeghan at Meeghan Reads. The themes have been absolutely adorable so I’m very excited to finally join in on the fun!

The topic for today’s Top 5 Tuesday is “Top 5 Books with Plants on the Cover” and, as a plant lover myself, this prompt is perfect! It was a lot of fun going through my bookcase and goodreads shelves to find some gorgeous, planty covers. Here are my favorites! 🌿💖

Books I’m Bringing With Me to College! 📚📦

It’s that time of the year again where I have to pack up all my belongings in the span of two days and move back to college! I may dread having to fold all of my clothes and shove them into gigantic IKEA duffle bags but, for me, the most difficult part is having to pick which lucky few books I will be taking with me to my dorm.

I know, I know. I sound a bit dramatic, but it’s a tricky thing to choose the books I’m bringing with me, mainly because I am the world’s biggest mood reader. This means that I typically can never stick to any sort of planned TBR and that I almost always rely on having a huge variety just in case.

However, I think that I have chosen a good set of books that will keep me entertained until I come back home in December. Have I packed way too many books that I will most likely not have the time for… quite possibly. Are a majority of the books romances because I am always in the mood for a cute read… absolutely!

Top Ten Tuesday: Secondary/Minor Characters Who Deserve More Love

Hello and happy Tuesday! I hope you all are having a nice start to your week. Mine has been a bit uneventful, however, I move back to college this Friday! So maybe a calm beginning of the week will balance out nicely with the hectic weekend that’s sure to come haha. 😊

Today’s post will be dedicated to a fun meme here in the bookish blogworld, Top Ten Tuesday! Every week there is a new, exciting topic to create a bookish list for ranging anywhere from genres to characters, to quotes and more! It is hosted by the lovely That Artsy Reader Girl so be sure to check out her site for more information.

This week’s topic is “Secondary Characters Who Deserve More Love” and, let’s be real, there are SO many characters who fall into this category. After reading certain books, I’m always hoping that another one will be published centered around a minor character who made a lasting impression on me! Here are some of those characters. 💖

Spoiler-Free Book Review: Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

Title: Anxious People
Author: Fredrik Backman
Release Date: September 8th 2020
Genre: Fiction, Contemporary, Mystery, Humor
Targeted Age Range: Adult
Content Warnings: suicide, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempt, death, addiction, grief
Rating: ★★★★★

Looking at real estate isn’t usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can’t fix up their own marriage. There’s a wealthy banker who has been too busy making money to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can’t seem to agree on anything, from where they want to live to how they met in the first place. Add to the mix an eighty-seven-year-old woman who has lived long enough not to be afraid of someone waving a gun in her face, a flustered but still-ready-to-make-a-deal real estate agent, and a mystery man who has locked himself in the apartment’s only bathroom, and you’ve got the worst group of hostages in the world.

Each of them carries a lifetime of grievances, hurts, secrets, and passions that are ready to boil over. None of them is entirely who they appear to be. And all of them—the bank robber included—desperately crave some sort of rescue. As the authorities and the media surround the premises, these reluctant allies will reveal surprising truths about themselves and set in a motion a chain of events so unexpected that even they can hardly explain what happens next.

Humorous, compassionate, and wise, Anxious People is an ingeniously constructed story about the enduring power of friendship, forgiveness, and hope—the things that save us, even in the most anxious of times.

Monthly Wrap Up | July 2021

The month of July was… a bit of a bummer reading-wise to say the least. To be fair, that is mainly due to the fact that it was an extremely busy four weeks!

My boyfriend and I were in Florida for almost two weeks visiting his family all while I started a month-long summer course for college. I’ve also been working at a local crafts store further reinstating the fact that my “hot girl summer” dreams have become… “hot part-time job summer” (gotta love college debt!). Besides all that, I did manage to finish reading a whopping four books in total… have I mentioned that a LOT has been going on this month?? (*deep sigh*)

Here are the books I read in July!
